Basic Broken Pasta in a Thermos

  • SERVING SIZE   240 g   ( 1 Cup )
  • SERVINGS PER RECIPE  1
Ingredients
  • 1 cup Cambrooke Pasta Duets (Pasta Solo-Elbow noodles)
  • ½ cup boiling Water
  • 1 tsp butter or margarine
Directions
  • To get started, you need a good thermos. Look for one that will retain heat for at least 5 hours. Pre-heating the thermos prior to adding ingredients is a very important first step. To pre-heat: place boiling water into thermos and let stand for 5-10 minutes.
  • Add all ingredients to the pre-heated Thermos. Tighten cap and give a shake to mix all the ingredients. Let cook at least an hour. Will stay hot as long as indicated on Thermos label. Because you are using a low protein pasta, it will be a little gummy and will break up when spooning out of the thermos.
  • SUGGESTION: Mac and cheese: Use CT Shake ā€˜nā€™ Cheese and mix with non-dairy creamer according to the package directions. In a separate container place 2 ounces of cheese sauce. (Recipe on package will make 5 servings). When ready to eat, add the cheese sauce to pasta and enjoy. If there is a little water left in the thermos there is no need to drain it off, the water will make the cheese sauce creamier.
  • To change things up, add vegetables and your favorite Cambrooke Meat Alternative like Tweekz, cheese meatballs, or veggie meatballs. Simply heat any frozen items in the microwave to warm slightly and add to the thermos. They will cook with the pasta for a full meal. You will need to adjust the protein or phe calculations based on your additions.
